About This Wine...
El Pájaro Rojo 2014
100% Mencia, from 30 to 40 year old vines.
The 2014 vine growing season was marked by moderate average temperatures and heavy downpours during spring. In September, the weather was mild. As a result, the wine displays a marked Atlantic personality, fresh, with good acidity and nice varietal aromas.
Plot by plot vinification. Hand-picked grapes rapidly transferred to harvest reception in 20kg. crates. Sorting table. De-stemming and light crushing. Alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats with periodic pumpovers.
“Luscious soft ripe dark fruits, with a touch of spice. Slips down all too easily.” John Wilson in the Irish Times.
